What. A. Trip.
We took a week long road trip around Iceland to celebrate both of us graduating college and our 4th wedding anniversary. Iceland is a stunning country full of other-worldly landscapes with a deep sense of mysteriousness and moodiness. It's the least populated country in Europe and you could travel for hours without seeing a single person. There are more sheep than people in Iceland (more than double actually!) and they would frequently cross the roads at the most inopportune times. Horses abound in the country as well but only one of them would actually let me get close to it!
We mostly lived off gas station food since there were little to no options while on the road. People would rave about the hot dogs there but we weren't impressed. For the most part, we stuck to chocolate muffins, Twix, and Pringles and by the half way point, I was craving salads and protein. Many of our conversations led to dreaming and salivating about what our first meal would be once we got back to the states, haha! (It was Mexican by the way)
It was a time full of adventure, growth, and refreshment. I was reminded that I'm married to the sweetest, most patient human being ever and that 4 years of marriage doesn't mean you know everything and that you still have plenty of things to learn and grow in - who knew? ;)
We have a powerful, creative God who made some pretty stunning places in this world. We were so grateful that we were able to see a little part of it. Hopefully you enjoy the photos and it inspires you to get out and travel a little more, even if it's in your own backyard!
